DIABETOLOGY INTRODUCES ITSELF

Today, the diabetes is an endemic disease with rapidly increasing number of  patient suffering from diabetes. In addition to its relative incidence, its importance is owing to the related complications.

WHEN AND UNDER WHAT SYMPTOMS  MUST WE GUESS DIABETES?

  • Thirst
  • Increase in urine quantity
  • Painful hunger
  • Losing weight
  • Itching skin
  • Frequent inflammation of the urinary tract

If you observe the above symptoms, or your blood sugar level exceeds 6.0 mmol/L on an empty stomach or 8 mmol/L in 1.5 hours after meals, please consult a doctor immediately.

Possible complications

  1. Premature arteriosclerosis, deformation of the big veins accompanied by arteriosclerosis ( coronary artery  stenosis, aortic stenosis in the lower extremities, cerebrovascular sclerosis).  The frequency of the said  deviations in patients suffering from diabetes exceeds by four times the average.
  2. Complications induced by the impairment of the small veins.
    - renal impairment (nephropathia) that may result in  renal insufficiencies in its serious form.
    - eye-ground vein impairment (retinopathia) that may cause blindness in its far-gone condition
  3. Nerve diseases caused by diabetes (neuropathia), damaging both the motorial and sensitive nerves as well as the vegetative nervous system.

All clinical examinations carried out in the past years have confirmed that the adjustment of the blood-sugar level , the normoglychenia, i. e. the setting of a nearly normal blood-sugar level would result in the stoppage of the complications or - in some cases - even improvement.
